We built a home 9 years ago and used log siding. We pressure wash and stain every 4 years or so. This year we had to have our flexduct on our hvac system replaced due to internal mold growth. I noticed the knots in the log siding have a powdery substance like mildew. What is going on? I have never seen this before.

Could be resin bleed. Not much you can do to stop it.
