i have a problem with carpenter bees in my log cabin. for the past five years they keep coming back. i had exterminators treat the house but they keep coming back. someone suggested that i either paint my house or cover the outside logs with varnish or shalak. i do not wish to paint because i like the natural look. can i cause any damage to the outside logs if i use varnish or shalak on it. thank-you joe

Never paint your logs! The paint does not allow the logs to breath properly. You should only put a stain on that is made for log homes or wood siding. For help with your carpenter bees call Timeless Wood Care Products at 800-564-2987 or

Is there a quality, long lasting exterior urethane for sealing a log cabin? I'm looking the gloss and sealing protection that a polyurethane gives inside.
