Sort of a strange question, but do you know if punky logs insulate better than solid logs? I know insulating factors increase with air pockets and conductivity decreases. While realizing that punky logs will not have the shear strength of solid logs, I cant help but think that they may be better insulators... Thoughts?

Not sure, but my thought would be no, due to the moisture involved with rotten logs.
