Question:

We bought a 1985 pine log cabin, little rot, bad stain, and poor chinking in Maine, and want to enclose it, insulating and plastering inside, cement fiber boarding outside. Should we reconditon the logs first or will exiting problems cease once logs are protected?

Answer:

The problems will continue, but may slow down a little. You should apply a couple of good heavy coats of Perma Chink Shell Guard.
