Im building a cabin with 8"x10" white pine sawn timbers purchaced from a saw mill.2 questions.How much time should I wait to permachink the exterior gaps? When stacking my logs I am planning on using 5 1/2" wide x 3/16" thick foam seal R sill plate gasket that can be puchaced from Home Depot between each log(timber).Do you recommend this?

Answer:

No. You need to use a "closed cell" foam like Grip Strip. The gasket material will give off gas that will bubble chink. Call 800-564-2987 to purchase the Grip Strip.
