Question:

We just purchased a two story log cabin, some of the logs inside have 1-2 inch splits horizontally and a couple vertical logs have some large splits, probably from settling. Should they be filled in or left alone?

Answer:

Inside you can fill them if you like, but not required. On the exterior never fill them unless you know they are letting wind, water or bugs in.
