Following advice, we filled all upward-facing checks in our logs with a product called Check-Mate. I read that you don't recommend this procedure because it can promote rot. So, now what? We are in a semi-arid climate.


You will have to inspect them 2-3 times per year for failure and repair. It only takes a little hairline seperation to cause trouble.
