Question:

I am building a cabin using log siding on the exterior. I wanted to use Behr(Premium) semi transparent stains. I will be using a very dark color for UV protection. Have you heard anthing bad about the product and is it a good fit for that type if material?

Answer:

In my opinion, you should spend the money for a good quality log home stain like Life Line from Perma Chink. It will save you money in the long run if applied properly. Any stain will not work if not applied properly. Stay away from the big box store stains. Call Timeless Wood Care at 800-564-2987 or www.timelesswoodcare.com

I have a 10 year old red pine log home to refinish exterior. From what I understand the logs were treated with borate but never sealed. So they are raw. I see no mold damage. The south side is sun burned and has some checks. On unfinished logs will blasting do the job or will all need to be sanded? I will need to replace all of the calking around the windows also. I want to use an oil base stain and sealer. These are T & G logs with no chinking. What do you recommend?
