I have a log cabin cottage built in 1937. I am finding fine sandust on the floor below one of the roof trusses. Not sure what type of insect and how to deal with it

Answer:

It sounds like Powder Post Beetle. The only way to really stop them is to strip the logs and apply a borate treatment.
