Question:

I have a new cabin and chinking has bleed down the side of the logs. How do I remove it from the stained logs. This is mostly on inside of cabin and bottom 3 logs on opposite side of room from wood burning stove. Most of cabin this was not a problem. No chinking on outside of cabin yet and will do it when weather warms up.

Answer:

You will have to scrape it off and maybe sand if you can't get it off. A lot of times after you get most of it removed, a wet rag and lots of elbow will wipe it off. Sounds like the radiant heat from the stove is causing the problem. You need to get that outside chinked ASAP!
