Question:

My parents own a log cabin that was built in 1906 from tamarack. Some of the logs near the bottom are starting to decay. What type of treatment do you suggest for preventing more decay?

Answer:

You can apply a Shell-Guard borate, but the logs have to be bare wood - no finish. Call 800-564-2987 to buy borate.
