Question:

In the early stages of thinking about building a log home. I want to use my own oak logs from my farm to build it from. I'm leaning toward milling them into a D shape and using the butt and pass method. Would it be too strange an idea to lay 2x4 lumber down between each log to maintain consistent spacing between logs and possibly insulate it better?

Answer:

That would be different. If you are getting them milled they will be able to maintain a consistent thickness.
