I am giving consideration to purchasing a log shell which is 1400 sq ft. The seller says it's a $70,000 shell which he's offering at $30,000 because he doesn't have the money to finish it. The logs have weathered because they've been sitting outside and appear to have blackened a little. The logs are about 10" round and the joints appear to be tight. They are sitting outside in Ontario Canada. I am wanting to know if it would be advisable to buy this considering the price and the fact that i


You might want to walk around it and tap on the logs with a hammer to look for any rot. If they sound solid and you don't hear any hollow or soft spots go for it. You will need to either media blast and Osborne brush or sand all of the logs before applying a finish.
