I have always dreamed of having a log home however a friend of mine said they they are alot of work to maintain. I know nothing about them other that they are beautiful. Could you please tell me what is required in maintaining them.

Once you have the proper finish on them most log homes require a light bath and maintenance coat be applied every 3-5 years, depending on the product used. Most oil based products only require a maintenance coat every 4-5 years, but will continue to get darker and darker with each coat. We like to use Perma Chink Life Line which requires a clear coat be reapplied every 3-4 years, but the color is maintained to its original shade.Go to for lots of information and answers to questions.
