Question:

Is cyrpess superior for log home, does it have to be stabilized every 8 feet, and does it have a "musty" smell. Eastern white pine seems to be the prevelant wood for log homes here in VA, but I want something else, is white cedar better than pine?

Answer:

Cypress does have a distinctive smell, but there are a ton of them in the South East and I never had anyone tell me they smell "musty". Do not use White Pine. Cedar will definitely be for longevity.
