Question:


We are considering buying a 1990 log home. Current owner is BIG smoker- will smoke odor stay in logs? What could we do to eliminate it? We are very new to log cabins. Thanks for any help!

Answer:

Not sure if you can get that smell out. You might have to sand and wash with a strong disinfectant.

I cleaned the interior logs of my house using a bucket of water/log wash (perma-chink product), and a rag. I wiped the interior logs down with the water/log wash mixture, then followed it with a rag in a clean water bucket. It took away a lot of dirt. The logs came out much cleaner and ready for the interior stain.
