We recently bought a cottage that has faux log siding. The house is framed from 2x4 and the exterior is covered with what looks like 2x8 with a log shape milled into them. There is no type of tonque and grove on the board edge.

The interior os the house is open with no wall board or insulation. We can see evidence of water and would like to caulk the boards before insulating.

What type of caulk should be used on the horizonal seems?
