Question:

I have cut a nice sugar maple log with a large burl. Want to use it in our new home. What is the best way to remove the bark?

Answer:

I would use a spud tool. This is similar to an ice spud which could be used. Also try a simple chisel and hammer. If this is a winter cut log it will be very hard to remove. Do not attempt this during freezing temps, the bark will be very hard to remove.
