We bought an early 1800s log house, 2 1/2 stories that we are currently working on. We are going to be pulling off the metal siding, asphalt siding to expose the logs. What is a good way to get all these layers off without ruining the logs and chinking?

Answer:

Not sure what to tell you. Just be careful with hammers and crow or flat bars.

We just tackled this same task. Careful with hammers and crow bars was exactly what we did. I can see one paint mark where i got too aggressive with the blue crow bar.
