Question:

I have a 20 year old white cedar log home I just blasted and borated and I am preparing to stain. What are best products to patch and fill afew checks and numerous knot holes, some which were homes to insects. Should you fill knots which have receded but still have sap wood in them?

Answer:

As always, I do not recommend filling the checks unless they are allowing wind, water or bugs to get inside. Anything that you fill needs to be inspected a couple of time a year for failure and repair. Yes, I would fill the receded knots.
