Question:

Do you have a ballpark figure on the cost to strip and stain a house your size? Also, about how often it might need to be done? Thinking about buying and wondering what is involved in maintenance.

Answer:

Not sure what "your size" is, but the average 1,500 sq ft house is going to cost about $15,000 to strip, borate treat and stain. Plan on $1.50 per sq ft of living space/per year for professional maintenance costs.

We recently suffered hail damage on two sides of our cedar log sided home. There are divets in the logs. We used a low pressure washer to see if we removed the dust if it would lighted the divet marks and it hasn't. Any suggestions? We are in Iowa!
