Have an 1840's log home--12 inch, square sided, rough hewn oak. Would like to apply preservative, but to do by hand with a brush will be extermely time-consuming, especially if I have to do this every three years or so. Also, impossible to apply without having product drip onto chinking. Can these products be applied with garden sprayer type applicator? And if so, will even a "clear" product affect the chinking color? I would prefer chinking to stay color it is (home was re-chinked several decades ago with cement type product). Should chinking be treated as well? Thanks!
