I've been told that half-log is better than full log construction, b/c it's easier to install elec, insulation, and plumbing; right? Also, why do you recommend against white pine? Thanks.

It is probably true that it is a little easier to install the mechanical, but why have the same maintenance on an imitation log home? White pine is more susceptible to rot. If you use white pine you need to stay on top of the maintenance.

We are looking at buying a Panabode log home in Ontario. My questions is would ther be insulation between the walls? There are big cracks up to 3" deep should I be concerned about this or can it be repaired?
