We ahve a log home. Every fall we have horrible problems with flies. They are awful! We have put fly hotels in each of the windows however, that only puts a small dent in the population. Is there some sort of spray we can put on that would distract the flies?

Sounds like you need to caulk or chink the exterior complete. Make sure that the windows are caulked in properly.

We have chinked and caulked everywhere on our log cabin and doesn't stop the flies...mainly cluster flies...I leave the vaccuum out all day and use it at least a dozen times until the sun goes down. Apparently, spraying the outside of the log home in late summer gets rid of the phermones that the flies left the season before...phermones attract the cluster flies so they come back every year. We plan to do this next year. Otherwise, we just have to put up with these horribleflies for a couple of months every fall. They also leave a smelly residue on the windows that has to be cleaned off as well.
