Question:

Hello, we own a log cabin that is appoximately 16 years old. When we purchased it 8 years ago it had just been stained--we have done nothing since. First, how can I determine what type of home I own and secondly can you give me guidelines on basic maintenance of logs. Do all log homes need to be cleaned, caulked, other treatments etc. I know the original owner did the work himself, I believe it was a log home kit and the home is log on the inside as well, no sheet rock.

Thanks in advance.

Answer:

it is hard to tell what brand of home you have without seeinf it, and then it is hard sometimes. Go to www.timelesswoodcare.com for maint. tips.

I am considering buying a log home in TN. It was built in 1991. It has not been well maintained.
Some logs need replacing. The home is 2 story with basement approx 2300 sq ft. What would be the approx cost to corn blast, borate tx and re-stain?
