Question:

We recently buily a home and used the flat log siding which has the chinking stripes in it. We have stained it. Can I use a latex paint and add sand to this to paint the stripes to make it look like chinking? There are no gaps it is solid and I just want the look and not the actual thickness of real chinking.

Answer:

You should use exterior primer that is tinted to the color that you would like. I would skip the sand. Perma Chink makes chink paint that has the grit in it already, but is very hard to work with.
