Question:

My logs on the rear of my cabin are badly rotted. This work will need to be done in 2015 in the Spring. Is there anything I can do for the winter months to protect them from the snow and ice and elements that would help?

Answer:

You should cover the area with plastic and lay some sheets of plywood up against the area to protect from further damage.
