Hi, the log cabins I just purchased have holes all over the inside and outside. Are the holes from when the trees were alive in the forest or can cabins still be home to wood boring insects?

Typically not when in the forest. More than likely itis Powder Post Beetle. It will need to be striped to bare wood and borate treated if so.
