My wive and I are looking at building a log cabin in lexington,Va. area we have talked to log cabins dealer in that area that sell from pine and cedar to cypress. every body says their is the best. what would you recommond using

It's all wood and all can rot. Cedar and Cypress are less susceptible to rot though. The key is keeping up on the maintenance once it is stained. I recommend budgeting about $1.50 per square foot of living space / per year for professional;l maintenance. I also recommend sticking with a good quality latex log home stain. Perma Chink Life Line Stain is my fav.
