Question:

I have a house that is covered in pine siding that has been stained. The stain in several years old and is discolored. I want to restain it. What all should I do?

Answer:

Sanding it off will probably be the best option. If there are nail heads exposed be careful not to sand any protective finish from them or they will cause rust streaks after the new stain is applied. If it is rough sawn, then you will want to have it media blasted with glass or corn cob as to not loose the surface texture.
