Question:

I am going to build a log home in central Virginia in a lot that has very little trees, lots of sun exposure. What type of wood do you recommend for that climate/environment? I like both white pine and white cedar. If I chose white cedar, should I still apply a borate treatment prior to stain?

Answer:

I would go with the Cedar over the White Pine. You should still apply a borate treatment.
