Hello, we have a log home from the late 1700’s. The logs inside are exposed just prior to us buying it a few years ago. The outside is still covered in quartersawn lap boards. We would like to expose those as well but heard the logs must ”slant” the right way or we will have problems. Any input?

There shouldn’t be any problems if there aren’t ledges to catch water and let it run back into the chink line. I would recommend removing the old chinking, applying a good borate like Shell Guard and then apply new chinking. If there are ledges catching water you can grind it to slope away from the house.
