The caulk on our log home is approx 38 years old and clearly needs replacing. The logs are too short to reach the length of the walls. So, the vertical joints between these shorter logs are approximately 1/8” wide. Is that width too narrow to allow movement of logs without caulk failure, and would it be wise to use a dremel to open the gap slightly and form a fresh surface for the caulk to adhere to. I’m doing the work myself and prefer to do this. (6000′ in AZ)
