What is the best way to finish between concrete piers and log posts(about 12 inch diameter). The log posts are attached to metal brackets in the concrete and there is a gap of about an inch between the meat of the log and the concrete. Concerned that chinking won’t allow water to drain out of the log. Other ideas? Thanks for any help.

I would chink and be sure that it is always intact. Not sure where you are, but snow sitting on the concrete will wick up into the log and rot over time. If no snow, you would be better to leave it open. Since it is an inch above the concrete I wouldn’t think that water will be an issue. Any closer and it should be chinked.
