I am getting ready to build a new log home. I am going to use 10” full logs with swedish cope and saddle notched corners. Where could I find information on the proper ways of sealing between the logs, saddle notches and corners and also constructing and sealing around the windows and doors ? I want all of this to be done right from the beginning during construction. ThanksMichael
Some builders use a foam gasket in between the logs. As for the corners, my opinion is chink them about 3 years after construction. I have been around a lot of Swedish cope homes that need to be chinked eventually after settling. The windows need tothe bucks properly installed and caulked before the windows are installed.
