we are looking at purchasing a log home in MN from a bank foreclosure. There is evidence of water damage on the inside of the log walls in the family room. There is no mold, and the logs aren’t wet… any what the problem is or how we can fix it so the logs don’t show the water damage anymore?

Water stains can sometimes be a problem if they have been going on for a while. If this leak is old the stains could be so deep into the wood fiber they may never come out. You would have to start sanding to see if it will removed them. Hard to tell you more without seeing the stains. Normally, if they have darker outer edges they are deep.
