I have recently purchased a 8 year old log home in central Wisconsin. Since we have purchased, about 4 months ago, I have noticed significant splitting in the vertical weight bearing square cut logs as well as the support beams in our great room. The weight bearing logs are 2 part and are basically stacked on top of each other (basement to main/main to roof) – the basement bearing logs are the logs in question.
