I just bought a small (12×30, with 12×12 loft)brand-new pine log cabin in WI. The exterior has already been stained. I would like to finish the interior for easier maintenance/cleaning. What would you recommend I use to finish the interior? On other sites I have seen suggestions to use tung oil, is this an option?
Thank you.
You should lightly palm sand the logs to remove any splinters and marks on the logs. I would recommend a light coat of Perma Chink Interior stain and a couple of coats of Acrylic Satin or Gloss, depending on your preference. Keep in mind that the smoother that you sand the logs the easier it will be to keep them dusted later. You should also add extra UV blocker the the stain and clear so that you do not get UV marks behind pictures and wall hangings.
