We are just in the process of setting logs on our cabin. We would like to treat the logs as we go to prevent damage and mold. Can you give us a step by step process to follow that would help prevent future damage to the interior and exterior of the logs. The logs have been kiln dried and are Southern Yellow Pine. Tyipically, The entire house is set and then it is treated with a borate.You may have to wash the logs before you stain if they are dirty or moldy. Use a log wash with warm water and scrub with soft brushes, rinse with a mist. Do not use a power washer and get up close or you will put to much moisture into the wood. Allow to dry completly and apply stain. Sikkens is a very good product if applied properly.
