I currently live in a log home that was built in 1989 these tongue and groove ceilings have some white and black mold on them what can I do to take care of this can I send them and stain them it is only at the peak of the ceiling also when it is warm outside in the winter the ceiling tends to drip moisture do you know why this is and what I could do to prevent it from dripping?
You probably have poor insulation or it may have settled away from the peak. You may want to try washing the effected area first with a mixture of 4 gal hot water, 1 cup TSP, 1 cup bleach. If that doesn’t clean it up then you may have to sand it back to clean wood and re-stain. I would also recommend getting a roofer to look at the insulation situation and the ridge cap on the roof. An insulation company may also have to look at it. They may be able to spray foam into the area from inside.
