Repairing Deteriorated Knots and Holes in Cypress Siding

I have a 40 yo solid Cypress sided home in Little Rock, AR. There are areas in the wood that have deteriorated i.e. knots. What should I fill the holes with?

You should put a piece of Grip Strip closed cell foam in the hole to allow room for 1/4” of Perma Chink or Energy Seal to cover it with. Trowel it smooth making sure that it is seated up against the wood.
