I have a problem with bats in and around my attic! Do you have any suggestions on how I can get rid of them?
Bill, thank you for this question. A lot of log home owners have problems with animals, namely bats.
Bats are a much-needed critter. They eat amazing amounts of insects per day, including bees, mosquitoes and ants. We have worked on hundreds of log homes with bats. Most of the homes had very little to no wasps flying around bothering us.
If you have them on the interior it would be a good idea to chink, or add hardware mesh to cover the holes. They can enter the smallest hole, the size of a dime. Using metal screening material, make a funnel and staple it onto where they are coming in, small side out. These act as a one-way door. After exiting, caulk or screen them out with staples and mesh. There are many types of bat houses that can be built and installed on a nearby pole or shed.
Hope this helps! The Log Doctor.
