I have an 85 year old milled redwood D log cabin in Ca. (MILD CLIMATE) I coated the entire place with copper green and am now contemplating applying raw tung oil to it. The seller reccomends cutting the tung oil with a citrus oil for the first coat to help penetration. What are your thoughts on the tung oil, and the citrus oil to thin it for the 1st coat? Thanks Eddie

I would highly recommend that you do not use it at all. Tung oil is very similar to Linseed oil which will promote black mold to form on your logs. Go with a good quality latex stain made for log homes. Call Timeless Wood Care at 800-564-2987. They carry several different brands and will be able to help you.
