I now own a family cabin built in 1951, in Montana. My grandfather had it built and they used a black, tar like caulking material between the logs. The inside is in great shape but I need to redo the outside. I’d like to use something like the black so the outside and the inside remain consistent. Any ideas? Also, the cabin out side has had several coats of some sort of varnish, one called Raw Hide I believe. Can you put protectant over that? Also some of the logs are stained with mildew.
