We are renovating a house that we have exposed an interior log wall. Appears to possible be cottonwood (we live in the Midwest close to Missouri River). We have sanded the wall and now looking at staining (just to add some color) to the wood they coat it and then chink it. Is this the proper process and should we use Polyurethane or Lacquer to cover the wood? Will chink have a problem if we coat the wood first? Thanks in advance!!
