The north side is exposed to n. wind and moisture. the home was never chinked properly and has poor sealing. Also i have an insect problem, termites, ants, spiders, roaches. i kno an exterminater can take care of most of that but what concernes me the most is is the insulation, moisture intrusion, termite and carpenter ant damage, and rot. chinking and caulking is my first option but bumble bees are eating holes everywhere. what can i do and what kind of moey am i looking at to restore this home
The first thing that you should address is the rotten logs. If you have carpenter ants, you have wet, rotten wood somewhere. Gat them replaced. Call Ryan at 877-788-5647 for this. More than likely it should next have the old finish striped off; a borate treatment applied to help stop the log rot in the future and help keep the bugs out of the wood. Staining and chinking will complete the process of sealing the home. The maintenance is the key to keeping it looking good for years. You need to inspect the home spring and fall for fading in the stain, breaks in the chink and caulk and areas that may have poor water draining thatcould be causing problems.
