You want to avoid anything that has a plant based oil in it like Linseed oil, Safflower oil, etc. Stick with a good latex stain like Life Line. The surface needs to stripped and prepared properly before application to avoid the black mold you are seeing. Call Dave at 800-564-2987 for help and products that you need.
