I have a 30 year old cedar sided home. Just had 1 coat Sherwin Williams Woodscapes solid color stain applied. Original cedar siding is probably a grade 4. Replaced badly worn boards with grade 2 cedar channel siding. Old boards and new boards are not blending well due to textural differences. Any suggestions on blending these?? Old boards were cleaned, but were previously stained a dark brown. New color is a dark redwood.

This is always a difficult problem. You should lightly sand the new wood first to remove the mill glaze. You then will have to apply several extra coats of the stain to the new logs to make them match. If you are truly using solid stain there shouldnt be an issue. This normally is only a problem with semi-transparent stains.
