We recently bought a log cabin that was partially constructed 3 yrs ago and never completed or stained or sealed. We powerwashed it and ready to stain. (I just read your comments re: powerwashing). My problem is…when it rains, the interior walls feel very damp. Once stain is on exterior, will water continue to seep through to the interior logs? We sealed around windows and doors. question 2: What kind of seal do we put over stain? Question 3: How long should we wait before staining inte
1) I would wait on the interior as long as it takes to become dry. (it must be closed in with all doors, windows and roofs)
2) It depends on what kind of stain youare using. Not all stains require a clear coat. We like to use Perma Chinks Life Line Ultra stain that hasa clear coat that goes over tha stain and should be re-applied every 3 years, more on your bad sides that get a lot of wind, rain and sun.
3) I would wait at least 4 to 6 weeks of good weather before staining over powerwashed logs.
