I am currently in the process of purchasing a log home that has at one point or another, had a cable system installed. I believe that it was installed after the home was completed to keep the logs from separating. Several of the cables have been cut and there is evidance of the logs separating. The log home builders in my area have never seen or heard of such a repair or building method. I think that it is a structural issue that needs to be addressed.
